Tatra chair from bentwood by Tatra Martin, Slovakia
This is a wooden chair, produced under the item number A 745 F from the slovakian furniture company Tatra Martin in the 1930s. The company was founded in 1886 by Ladislav Dobrovits, who was probably inspired by the success of Michael Thonet, who ran his bentwood factory in the immediate neighborhood. Parallels in the design can be seen. The chair consists of strict, geometric shapes with rounded corners. The armrests are made from bentwood. The seat has an ergonomic shape that is very comfortable. The Tatra armchair was made of beech wood and covered with brown shellac, which reveals its beautiful grain. A few curved details made of bentwood complete the design. The armchair is in excellent condition considering its age. A very beautiful piece that can be timelessly added to many living space situations.
